Digitalization and digital transformation is a frequently used buzzword for an important but multifaceted subject area. Digital transformation is successful precisely when it succeeds in meeting urgent and sometimes time-critical customer and business demands through the effective use of data and technology. It is important to recognize the gaps within the organizations in order to ensure the targeted and optimizing use of technology. Essential for the successful use are the employees of the organization, who not only have to go along with it, but also shape it and live it in everyday life.
In our webinar series on the topic of digitalization and digital transformation, we would like to address these and other issues, and in particular the challenges and opportunities for the financial sector. Our experts will be happy not only to present "best practice" approaches, but also to address your specific questions during the live streams.

Improving Non-Financial-Risk Reporting
Risk management is all about good communication. In the course of the 2008 financial crisis, risk managers (hopefully) learned their lesson in financial risk management. The same is true for non-financial risks. Perhaps even to a greater extent, as non-financial risks are more difficult to communicate. Therefore, solid reporting is an important element of the entire NFR framework presented above.

Automation SPPI Classification
In the Accounting Standard IFRS 9, the classification of financial assets and especially the derivation of SPPI criterion for loans as well as bonds is a highly manual process. The webinar illustrates how to use Robotic Process Automation and natural language processing to meet the challenge.

Data Tiering Options with SAP HANA and Usage in a Hadoop Scenario
There are several data tiering options with SAP HANA. For a Big Data scenario, the tandem SAP HANA and Hadoop is a good fit to cope with the future challenges and make use of Hadoop as a data tiering platform for SAP HANA. A deeper look is taken into connecting HANA with Hadoop via the Spark Controller and applying data tiering with the Data Lifecycle Manager.

Using Architecture Patterns to leverage Batch & Real-Time Capabilities
The Lambda architecture approach is designed to handle massive quantities of data by taking advantage of a combination of batch and stream processing methods. In this webinar main ideas of this approach are discussed in the context of financial management in banks and insurance companies.

Speeding up Regressiontest by using ML/DL
Regression tests are widely used after release updates to ensure the software and implementation stability. The brute force approach is to recalculate the whole portfolio during this regression test with an enormous burden on disk space, computational power and workforce for the error tracking. The webinar discusses specialized cluster algorithms to significantly reduce the number of tested transactions to a few representative transactions, by maintaining the overall software and implementation stability on the same level.

Use Hyperautomation to take Automation (especially RPA) to the Next Level
Robotic Process Automation (RPA) has in recent years launched a fundamental new paradigm on how to automate and optimize processes. RPA projects have been a great success but focused on the repetitive tasks always following the same patterns. Hyperautomation extends the scope to include the (algorithm-driven) decision-making in the automated process. This Webinar explain the ideas behind hyperautomation. In addition, a specific example presented.

Agent based Modelling - a new way to develop models for a continuously changing world
Disrupting events like COVID-19, climate change or new competitors (e.g. GAFAM) can permanently change the structure of a bank’s balance sheet and the bank’s risk profile. Agent-based modeling (ABM) is a versatile, interdisciplinary bottom-up approach that can be used to consider such effects in dynamic simulations of the balance sheet development. In this webinar the concept for an agent-based model presented that simulates the effects of macroeconomic scenarios and competitive boundaries on the balance sheet dynamics of banks. An implementation of such a model could be used to explore stylized balance sheet developments over time and thereby provide a valuable planning tool for qualitative and quantitative risk management.

Value Driver oriented Planning
Driver- or value-driver-based planning is not a new approach. However, despite the obvious advantages, this planning approach only slowly gained acceptance in bank and insurance companies. This webinar shows how the establishment of the approach can take place via a central strategic point of view and how value driver chains can be defined.

Dynamic dashboards can help to bring transparency into complex model outcomes. The webinar discusses and present different alternatives (both open-source and standard software) and shows implementation examples. The speaker highlight the importance of this toolset in the continuously changing world.

Extensive Automation of the Nostro Account Match Process
The matching of nostro accounts is a common challenge in financial departments. Most institutions have automated the preparation of the matching process to a certain extent. However, the matching is still executed by humans. The webinar presents an approach to combine cluster algorithms with combinatorics to meet the challenge.

How to estabilish a resonable Data Lineage
With increasing complexity of firms’ IT landscapes and growing regulatory pressure, data lineage has become an increasingly crucial topic over the years, especially in highly regulated industries like the financial or the pharmaceuticals sector. In this webinar, using our practical expertise on this topic, firstly we define the term data lineage and explain its relevance. We then present several approaches and discuss the topic of tooling. Finally, we present our view of the future developments in this field.
